MediaRollPrivacy Policy

Your media stays on your Mac
MediaRoll opens and processes the files you choose locally. It does not upload your photos, videos, audio, edited images, or folder contents. No MediaRoll account is required. Folder permissions and preferences are stored locally. Preview edits do not change originals; exporting writes to a destination you choose.
Purchases and the free trial
Apple processes payments and provides signed StoreKit transactions used to check trial dates and permanent access. MediaRoll does not receive your payment card information. Apple’s own privacy policy governs App Store account and payment processing. Restoring purchases uses your Apple Account.
Technical diagnostics
MediaRoll uses Sentry to collect crash and app-hang reports, handled technical errors, diagnostic logs, session health, and sampled performance traces. Reports may include app version, operating system and device details, diagnostic identifiers, and technical stack traces. These diagnostics help find failures and improve reliability. They are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking and are not intentionally linked to your identity.
Media contents, filenames, folder paths, screenshots, and view hierarchies are not intentionally included in diagnostics. Error details are sanitized, and automatic file tracing and UI breadcrumbs are disabled. Sentry receives network requests to process diagnostics; its infrastructure may process connection metadata such as IP addresses. See Sentry’s privacy policy. Reports are retained according to the configured Sentry project retention settings.
Your choices
You can clear remembered folder access using MediaRoll → Forget Saved Folder Access. Diagnostics can be disabled using MediaRoll → Share Technical Diagnostics. You can use the app without an account, and media processing works offline. Starting or restoring an App Store purchase may require an internet connection.
Contact and requests
Contact us for privacy questions or deletion requests. Because diagnostic reports are not intentionally associated with a named account, identifying a particular report may require details about its time, app version, or diagnostic identifier. MediaRoll does not sell personal information.
Changes
This page will be updated if our data practices change. The effective date above identifies the current policy.
