YOUR SCREEN IS YOUR BUSINESS.

It belongs on your Mac.
So that’s where it stays.

No cloud detour.

Capture and editing happen locally. PlainShot never uploads your screenshots or keeps a server copy.

No account to create.

No PlainShot sign-in. No profile to fill out. Open the app and get straight to the thing you came to do.

Just screenshots.

No screen recording suite or online workspace. A native Mac app that gives one everyday task its full attention.

The details, in plain language

01 / GET THE RIGHT FRAME

A shortcut.
A selection. You’re in.

01

Start wherever you are.

Press ⌃⌘C or choose New Capture from the menu bar. Set your own shortcut if you prefer.

02

A region. A window. Your desktop.

Drag to frame a detail, or click a window or desktop. The screen freezes so you can take your time.

03

Fine-tune the edges.

Eight crop handles let you get precise. Move the frame without changing its size; your annotations stay anchored.

02 / MAKE YOUR POINT

Less explaining.
More showing.

Point to the detail. Add the context.

Done in a moment.
There when you need it.

Every finished capture goes into your local history as a PNG. Revisit it from the menu bar, copy it again, or save a separate file wherever you choose.

History stays until you remove it, even after your trial ends. Deleted captures go to your Mac’s Trash.

A FEW PLAIN ANSWERS

Good to know.

Do my screenshots ever leave my Mac?

PlainShot does not upload your screenshots. Capture, annotation, and history stay on your Mac. If you save to a synced folder, use Universal Clipboard, or share a file yourself, those services follow your settings. Read the privacy policy.

Do I need an account or an internet connection?

There’s no PlainShot account. Capturing and editing run locally. Apple handles trial activation, purchases, and restoring purchases through the App Store; those actions may need an internet connection and your Apple Account.

Does it record video or audio?

No. PlainShot is for still screenshots. macOS requires Screen Recording permission to capture the screen, but PlainShot does not record video or audio. It does not ask for Accessibility or Input Monitoring permission.

How does the free trial work?

Start the 30-day trial in Settings → Access. It never charges automatically. After the trial, the optional one-time Permanent Unlock enables new captures. Your existing history remains accessible. App Store availability and pricing will be announced at launch.

Can I edit a screenshot later?

Annotations can be adjusted while your capture is open. Completed captures are flattened PNGs; local history does not store editable layers. You can view, copy, save, or move a history item to Trash.
